Biography
Bruno Brugnano is an Award Winning Movie Composer and Recording Artist.
In his ongoing, decades-long career as as a musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer, sound designer and recording artist, he has composed, arranged and produced music scores and original songs for feature films, television,documentaries, and commercials, amassing over a hundred albums to his credits, receiving numerous awards from film festivals around the world, including Festival de Cannes, Venice Film Festival, MTV Video Music Award, Sundance Film Festival , Locarno Film Festival, Le Fifa , Season Award, Thai Oscar Award, Maverick Movie Award , Thai Critics Movie Award, Big Bad Film Festival, New York Asian Film Festival, Asian Pacific Broadcasting Award and many more.
Born in Milan, Italy, he's an honors graduate from the Musicians Institute, College of Contemporary Music in Los Angeles, California, USA, also studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Perugia, Italy, and he has a Master’s Degree in Jazz Guitar from the C.D.M. Milan Music InstituteBruno in 1990 moved from Italy to Los Angeles and in 1992 from USA to South of Asia.Prior to his freelance career Bruno worked extensively for GMM Grammy Entertainment, Sony, BEC Tero, Polygram,and numerous other major record labels creating hit songs and award-winning albums for a diverse array of artists.In 1996 Bruno was the arranger and producer for the album and live show held at the Thai Cultural Center in Bangkokin occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Ascension to the Throne of His Majesty King Bhumibol AdulyadejBruno has also worked closely with H.R.H Thai Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya, first daughter of the Thai King Rama IXfor four consecutive years as her personal composer for her feature films and TV programs.Bruno recent jobs include wide range of films and documentaries and TV series including Steven Seagal's movies"Attrition" and "General Commander" , a documentary "Ghost Fleet" ( Official Selection at the Sundance Film Festival)a documentary about the Swiss Architect Mario Botta " The Space Beyond " (Official selection at the Locarno FilmFestival), co-composed the soundtrack for "The Devil Child of Nezha" which became China's highest grossing animatedfilm of all time and also first 3D animated IMAX feature film produced in China, and the very successful Chinese movie“ Jade Dynasty “ and the first Thai feature movie for Netflix called “The Maid “ and the Award Winner movie FromBangkok To Mandalay.More recently, Bruno been working on numerous international movies, including Father Christmas is Back for Netflix featuring Elizabeth Hurley, Nathalie Cox, John Cleese, and Kelsey,Grammer. A week In Paradise featuring Malik Akerman, Connie Nielsen, Philip Winchester, One Year Off featuring Jeff Fahey, Nathalie Cox, Chad Michael Collins, Ray Fearon, and a Vietnamese movie called Nightmare for Dien Quan Film.In 2023, his achievements in the horror film industry were remarkable. His work on the Malaysian movie HarumMalam earned him the seventh spot on the prestigious Top 20 Asian Horror Movies list. Even more impressively, hiscontributions to the Thai/Chinese movie THE LAKE secured the number one position on the same list. These accoladeshighlight his significant impact and recognition in the Asian horror film scene.Bruno recently had an exciting opportunity to collaborate in his studio with renowned composer Benjamin Wallfisch.He recorded additional music for the highly anticipated Ron Howard film, Thirteen Lives.His latest projects are a testament to his versatility and creativity. Among them is the highly anticipated fantasy filmThe Snake Queen, set to enchant audiences worldwide upon its release. He also brought his dynamic touch to theaction-packed movie Hellhound featuring the great Louis Mandylor, promising viewers an adrenaline-fueledexperience.In the realm of animation, he contributed to the grand American/Chinese production 天降大任 (Heaven Falls GreatResponsibility), a visually spectacular and culturally rich film. His talents also shine in the Thai PBS TV series Plai Jawakand the award-winning Nameless Angel, both of which have received critical acclaim and numerous accolades.Adding to his impressive portfolio is the stunning Vietnamese TV series MẤT TÍCH ĐÊM 30 (Missing on the 30thNight), which won the prestigious Asian Pacific Broadcasting Award. These works collectively highlight his significantimpact and recognition in the entertainment industry.Currently, he’s immersed in an array of exciting projects that span across genres and cultures. First up is “We AreHere”, a captivating Thai/Russian production that promises to blend the best of both worlds. Then there’s “The Devil’sDinner”, a Vietnamese TV series set to debut on Netflix, which will surely serve up a feast of thrills and chills. Together, they crafted an album for a prestigious German label, blending their unique musical styles and talents.He had the honor of being a guest speaker at the inaugural TED Conference in Bangkok, captivating the audience with his insights. For six consecutive years, he has been celebrated as one of Thailand’s Leading Expats, making it onto The300 list. His expertise is further recognized through his role as a member of the Asian Academy Creative Awards Grand Jury. Since 2020, he has also lent his discerning eye to the Bangkok International Documentary Award jury,contributing to the recognition of outstanding documentary filmmaking, Over the past few years, Bruno has been weaving his musical magic into various high-profile projects.
